The Creative Team

An Enlightened Event is a design, planning, and beauty company specializing in weddings, life celebrations and corporate events.  Every successful event begins with ensuring you have the right team to plan and execute it seamlessly.  We have several different packages to ensure we are meeting the individualized needs of each client.

Our planning team possesses expansive corporate and local government experiences ranging from permitting and recreation programs to project management and auditing.  These experiences, which require extensive attention to detail and customer service, have proven to be invaluable and sets our team apart.  If you think you would be a great addition to our team of amazing women, send us an email with your resume!

Cynthia Alexander, MBA, PBC, CGWP

Cynthia (aka Owner & Executive Director) started the business in 2010.  From the beginning she has had the desire to apply her corporate project management experience to wedding planning.  Her attention to detail, work ethic, and love of all things romantic and beautiful make designing and coordinating the perfect creative outlet.  Cynthia started her business with a bang by winning the Association of Bridal Consultant’s Rising Star Award as well as being named one of the Top 25 Wedding Planners in California by Wedding Industry Experts.  Her work has been published in an industry magazine called The Wedding Planner, and on several blogs.  She is also sharing wedding inspiration with fellow Pinners.

When she’s not working on creating memorable weddings and events, she’s raising three kids, creating formulas in Microsoft Excel and eating dessert (just kidding…sort of).  She loves to travel, get massages, and gravitates towards the colors gold and pink.

Michelle D’Anna, MPA

Michelle joined our team in 2013 as an assistant.  She enjoyed planning so much that she is now one of our Lead Planners and is working on becoming a Certified Wedding Planner.  She has experience and expertise working with many different individuals in the wedding industry from vendors to brides.  She is patient, friendly, and a wonderful addition to our team.  She is always open to helping with any part of the event including untying 150 bunches of baby’s breath and then tying them a different way. Michelle loves the celebration and happiness as well as appreciates all the little details that go into every aspect of the event.  You know what really gets her?  The groom’s expression when he sees his bride walking down the aisle towards him.

She loves the color sage green right now (a popular pick among brides).  You might find Michelle breaking the “rules” by wearing white pants after Labor Day but she’s super careful to keep them clean even while chowing down on her favorite food – watermelon!  Michelle can talk your ear off about construction equipment because of her adorable son who loves his “mighty machines”.

Kendall Wightman, CWP

Kendall, a Certified Wedding Planner is one of our Lead Planners. She’s been in the event industry for a while helping her husband DJ many events.  Her favorite part of a wedding is watching the groom’s face as the bride makes her way down the aisle. Kendall loves being a part of one of the happiest days in the couple’s life.

While she may be a California native, she bleeds orange and blue for the Denver Broncos (huh?). When she’s not assisting us with our weddings and events, she’s a mom to an adorable little girl, eating chicken tortilla soup, building things out of Legos, and coloring in her favorite color…orange of course!

Katie Gallo, MS

Katie has been coordinating special events for the past ten years and recently began working with weddings after coordinating her own wedding. She loves being a part of a multitude of events and is one of our Lead Planners.  She has planned things from birthday parties to City events and fundraisers.

Katie is a native Southern California girl who has worked with clients such as the NFL and Red Bull. She has a high attention to detail and enjoys organizing all of the small details to create an overall design and feel for a wedding. Her favorite part of the wedding is the couple’s first dance as she feels it truly expresses the couple and their relationship. When she’s not traveling or spending time at the Happiest Place on Earth, she’s cheering of the Denver Broncos with her family while wearing her favorite color – navy blue!

Helena Olivares

Helena is a licensed cosmetologist and loves making people look and feel good. She loves weddings because it’s one of the most important days in our lives! Her favorite part of the wedding is hearing the couple say their vows because she always cries. Helena rocks hot pink – her favorite color – while eating Italian food and doing science projects, sometimes simultaneously. When she’s not spending time with her family or beautifying the world, she’s going crazy in craft stores because she’s obsessed with crafting.

Berenice Ruiz

Meet Berenice. She’s one of our Assistants and is have a great time learning about the event industry! She has experience in program management and logistics so it’s pretty fitting that she’d be a part of our team.

When Berenice isn’t assisting with events, she’s running a small business – she owns Fro-Yo in Fillmore so make sure to stop by her shop.

Mia McCoy

Mia joins the An Enlightened Event team as an Assistant and we are so excited to have her! She’s currently studying to be a nurse and is as calm, sweet and gentle as can be. Mia’s favorite part of the wedding is the grand entrance because the couple is excited and ready to enjoy the day/night with food, family, friends and dancing. She really likes the dancing and celebration of the commitment to one another.

When she’s not assisting one of our Lead Planners, she’s spending time with her family on hikes or at the beach and eating ice cream…sometimes at the same time. She loves to travel, learn new cultures, try new food and stumble her way through different languages. And guess what! Her favorite color is green because it symbolizes growth and life. Pretty awesome, right?
